About the event
Ofrenda Fest is a non-profit organization that promotes art, film, music, photography and ancient traditions. Our mission is to offer a space to honor and reconnect with the Earth through ritual and ceremonies in a fusion with the arts. This is our third time that a large movement of artists and indigenous communities come together to celebrate and share new proposals through art, film and ceremonies, where each day we will open the floors with “offerings” and pay back ceremonies to awaken our connection with the planet and ourselves in the heart of in Long Island City Queens . This year we are uniting forces with the Indigenous forum at the United Nations to combine activities with Indigenous communities that are participating at the Forum. We will celebrate music, art, films, workshops and ancestral ceremonies on April 21,22 and 23 2023
Cacao CeremonyFor more than 5,000 years the Mayans have known Cacao as a sacred medicine. Today, Cacao Circles are rituals dedicated to personal renewal and expansion. Cacao is considered "the drink and seed of the offerings" for its components and benefits, giving you the tools to find your inner healing and clarity.
Our guides:
Maestro Manuel Rufino was born in Quisqueya, known by the Tainos (an original tribe of the Caribbean) as “mother of all lands”. Today, Quisqueya is called the Dominican Republic, which is the name given by the Spanish. Maestro Manuel is the founder of the Heart & Mind Festival, which attracts some of the most influential leaders in the spiritual, scientific, artistic, diplomatic and philosophical spheres of our time. Maestro Manuel is also the founder of Golden Drum, a cultural center in Brooklyn and the Sacred Arts Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide support for the sacred arts.
DREAM SEED is a shamanic sound ensemble hosted by members of Golden Drum, Didge Project, and Sacred Arts Research Foundation. Shamanic chanting, mantras, overtone singing, Native American songs, indigenous music, didgeridoos, crystal singing bowls, bells, gongs, harmoniums, tuning forks and other overtone-emitting instruments are used to create an environment conducive to deep relaxation and inward investigation. Participants are led through guided meditations and sound healing practices designed to harmonize body, mind and spirit.
